Hello everybody!
My name is Dr. Benjamin Portnoy, I am a Florida-licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy and the founder of Tuned Physical Therapy, a performance-driven outpatient clinic specializing in sports medicine, orthopedic rehabilitation, and post-operative care. I earned my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine—consistently ranked among the top DPT programs in the country.
Before my doctoral training, I graduated with honors from The Sage Colleges with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Minor in Business Administration. During graduate school, I served as a Graduate Assistant in the Acute Care department and founded UM JGrad, a Jewish graduate student organization connecting students across disciplines—highlighting my commitment to community.
As an athlete myself, I have been immersed in sports from a young age, giving me a personal understanding of performance and injury recovery. I have worked with athletes across all levels—from youth and collegiate teams to professionals—including D1-level athletes at the University of Miami. My clinical interests include sports injuries, post-op rehab, and performance optimization, with a growing focus on the unique demands of South Florida’s active population—including recreational runners and competitive pickleball players.
As a lifelong learner, I am certified in Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) and Manual Spinal Adjustment (Level 1), and am currently pursuing certification in Dry Needling. I also provide in-depth running and gait screens to help athletes avoid injury and improve mechanics.
Fluent in English and Russian, I have had the opportunity to serve a diverse population throughout Miami and Fort Lauderdale, offering both in-clinic and mobile concierge services. My approach emphasizes transparency, patient education, and one-on-one care that prioritizes long-term outcomes—not just quick fixes.
When not with patients, you can find me paddle-boarding Miami’s waterways or training for long-distance races—I recently completed the 305 Miami Half Marathon. I am passionate about staying at the forefront of rehab science through reading, continuing education, and research, so my patients get the most up-to-date and effective care possible.
