Tortoises are amazing pets—but they need the right diet and habitat to stay healthy. Many common issues are preventable with proper care and early treatment.
If your tortoise isn’t eating, has eye or shell changes, or is breathing differently—don’t wait. Early care makes all the difference.

Healthy habitat = healthy tortoise 💚

Birds are smart, active animals that need more than just food and a cage to stay happy. Enrichment means giving them fun and safe ways to play, explore, and use their natural instincts. In the wild, birds fly, climb, chew, and search for food all day. We can bring a little of that into our homes by adding toys, perches, and places to explore.

When we mimic their natural habitat, birds feel safer, less bored, and more like themselves. This helps prevent stress and keeps them healthy. A happy bird is an active bird—and a big part of that starts with enrichment! 🐦💚

Multiple shapeable, wire-enforced rope perches are available that provide mild movement when captive birds climb on them. These perches simulate movement on smaller natural tree branches and help birds practice balance. Options for your bird’s cage include boings, swings, and bungees.

Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease (RHDV2) is a highly contagious and often fatal virus affecting rabbits, and it has been reported in several areas across the US, including Florida. Protecting your rabbit starts with prevention. 🐰

Our clinic recommends scheduling an exam to discuss whether the Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease vaccine is appropriate for your pet. During the visit, we can review your rabbit’s lifestyle, risk factors, and overall health to determine the best protection plan.

If you have a rabbit at home, now is a great time to make sure they’re protected. Please call our hospital to schedule an exam and learn more about the RHDV2 vaccine. 💚

🚨 South Florida Pet Safety Reminder 🚨
We’re having cold weather again and unfortunately, that can mean more iguana carcasses in yards, parks, and along the water.
Please be careful not to let your dogs sniff, lick, or carry these — decomposing iguanas can harbor botulism toxin, which can cause serious and potentially life-threatening paralysis in pets.
If your dog has had contact with a dead iguana and seems weak, lethargic, or is having trouble walking, swallowing, or breathing — seek veterinary care immediately.

🐾🌞 Happy National Walk Your Dog Day! 🌞🐾
Today’s the perfect excuse to grab the leash and enjoy some fresh air with your four-legged best friend! Regular walks help maintain a healthy weight, support joint health, and provide important mental stimulation.
Whether it’s a quick stroll around the block or an extra-long adventure, your pup will thank you with plenty of tail wags and kisses. 💙

Share a photo from your walk in the comments—we’d love to see those happy faces!
