Last month I presented at the National Council on Family Relations annual conference for the first time and it was an amazing experience. It felt great re-visiting my dissertation work, and getting back into Family Systems research.

It was especially sweet, sharing in these moments with my doc sisters Alicia and Paulette (who absolutely killed their presentations) and getting to connect with many of my faculty colleagues and students. I also really appreciated the free professional headshots available for all attendees (I was due for a new one, lol).

I left NCFR feeling full, inspired, and excited to continue contributing to scholarship in ways that feel both personal and purposeful. To God be the glory, I am looking forward to 2026!

Happy New Month! ✨

It’s been a while since I introduced myself. My name is Dr. Franchesca Fontus and I’m the proud owner of Purpose Therapy, a private practice based in South Florida, focused on helping clients navigate their relationships, family dynamics, and mental health.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, practicing for over 10 years, I provide individual, couples, and family therapy services for Florida and New Jersey residents. My education journey includes earning a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Couple and Family Therapy. While credentials and degrees are important, I think it’s necessary for potential clients to know that my role as a therapist is not just a career, but a calling! The work that I do transcends beyond the therapy room and I’m passionate about providing a space for people to prioritize their relational and mental wellness. When opportunities permit, you’ll also find me lending my voice and expertise on topics related to mental health, faith & mental health, family, relationships, and therapy through community events, speaking engagements, and media appearances.

Lastly, I’m a Follower of Christ and a Haitian American. My favorite moments are the ones I get to spend with those that I love and traveling. On behalf of Purpose Therapy, I appreciate you for being here. Thank you for your continued support. 🧡

I had a great experience speaking and moderating ’s Faith and Wellness panel discussion. The panelists Jean Bijou, Raven Jinks, Naomi Desir, and Dev Richard were absolutely AMAZING! Thank you to the health ministry, Bishop Gideon, and to everyone at The Turn Church who made this day a success!

Last Sunday, I had the pleasure of serving as a guest speaker and panel moderator for The Turn Church’s first mental health event.

If you know me or understand the passion that I have for my work as a therapist, you know I have a special place in my heart for highlighting the importance of mental health & wellness within the body of Christ.

It was truly an honor being to able to represent through sharing my expertise. Our panelists engaged in raw and honest discussions on faith, mental health, relationships, family dynamics, and more.

It was an impactful time and God was truly glorified. Thank you so much to The Turn Church for having me!

May marks Mental Health Awareness Month, dedicated to raising awareness of mental health and wellness, while combatting the stigma associated with mental health concerns. Mental Health America established this initiative in 1949. Throughout the month, efforts are made to: empower individuals and families who are struggling, aid in helping loved ones to understand mental health challenges, and provide information on how to access mental healthcare & therapeutic support. Additionally, Mental Health Awareness Month supports providers in securing funding for research and further treatment care. At the center of this month, sharing personal experiences related to mental health also serves as a way to eradicate misconceptions and to encourage those in need to seek help rather than suffer in silence. 💚
