For the last 10 weeks, our recovery residents have been engaging in a therapy grief group. We have spent the last few months understanding the stages of grief, types of grief, and how grief shows up in our lives. As we near the last few weeks of group, today we do something different.

Today we get to talk about the spiritual part of grief and how we break the negative and harmful concepts we have knowingly or unknowingly partnered with.

Today we get to declare healing over our lives and favor and strength over our futures. 💪

As we prepare for our next house expansion, we are thrilled to announce our newest hire, Daisy White.

Not only will Daisy be a part of supporting the adults in our recovery residence through group therapy, but she will also play a crucial role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of the youth and young adults within our local community.

Read below to learn about Daisy:

“My name is Daisy, and I am a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) in Minnesota and an Advanced Practice Social Worker (APSW) in Wisconsin. I earned my Master’s of Social Work degree from the College of St. Scholastica. I provide psychotherapy to individuals ages 12 and older, with a focus on adolescents between the ages of 12 and 18.

My clinical experience includes working with clients experiencing a range of challenges, including depression and mood disorders, anxiety, substance use, suicidal ideation, family and relationship difficulties, and behavioral concerns.

I have professional experience working with children of all ages in school-based settings, and my background includes both school social work and outpatient mental health services. I have chosen to focus my work on teens and young adults, driven by a passion for helping youth navigate the challenges of adolescence and early adulthood.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, and an integrative framework that allows me to individualize treatment for each client.

I am excited to begin building meaningful connections with new clients and working with them to reach their goals!”

Generational curses: refers to the belief that negative patterns, behaviors, or misfortunes can be passed down from one generation to the next. This idea suggests that the actions and choices of ancestors can have lasting consequences on their descendants.

Generational curses are often associated with the idea that dysfunction, addiction, hurt, and family trauma can create a cycle of negative outcomes.

Looking to break some generational curses? Highlands has your back.

Happy Sunday All!

As we prepare to house and support 20-22 men in just 4 short months, it has been encoruaged to share how to help and how to get involved with the Highlands expansion.

Some of the most helpful ways to get involved with Highlands include:

1. Donating directly to Highlands
2. Checking out our amazon wish list below. All items purchased are shipped directly to Highlands.
3. Signing up to volunteer (we will need help with move and set up come June as well as other ongoing areas of need for volunteering)
4. We will never say no to prayer! Specific prayer requests include a need for emotional, spiritual, and finacial provision during this expansion as well as blessings, healing, and restoration for our current and future Highland clients.

As you all patiently waited… we are excited to announce Highlands is expanding to serving men!

Coming June 2025 we will be opening our doors up to 20 MEN in the Twin Ports community as we’ve secured a 4-plex! 🎉

Men entering into Highlands will have access to live in staff, drug and alcohol screening, peer connection, and 4 days a week of licensed mental health/substance use group programming. Our program also includes all utilities, internet, bus pass assistance, and all household and hygiene supplies. Stay tuned as we prepare to fully furnish 4 homes and update our website.
