Lymphatic drainage is a huge piece of keeping you healthy. It gathers up waste, toxins, and harmful bacteria in your body. Luckily, many of the things you can do to support lymph flow is actually fairly pleasant. Fun and relaxing even. ☺
✨Check out our top 8 ways to improve lymphatic drainage! ✨
1. Sweat regularly. This helps move your lymph and is also a great pathway for your body to remove waste. You don't need to go out and buy a sauna to do this. Simply play your favorite sport, relax on the beach in the sun, or cuddle under a heavy blanket with a warm cup of tea.
2. Stay hydrated. When you're dehydrated your lymph can get "sticky." Make sure to drink adequate amounts of water. If you use filtered reverse osmosis water, be sure to add minerals back in. This will make sure your cells get properly hydrated. Infuse it with some fruit to make a delicious, refreshing treat.
3. Dry brush. Dry brushing helps manually push your lymph through your body. It is also super relaxing, and a special treat to add to your night-time routine.
4. Rebound. Jumping pumps lymph through your body. If jumping is too much for you, simply raising your heals up and down will also do the trick. Put on some music or have your kids join you to turn it into a party.
5. Take care of your fascia. When fascia is tight it restricts the flow of lymph through your body. One of my favorite ways to care for my fascia is a movement practice call Bowspring. You’ll get your workout in while releasing tight fascia. It feels amazing! You can also get fascia-focused body work, such as craniosacral, or try at home release techniques.
6. Just move. Any kind of movement will help your lymph flow. Whether it’s going on a walk, cooking a meal, or working in the garden.
7. Get a massage. Whether it’s a lymphatic massage, or some other form, they will both improve circulation and help with lymph flo. So if you needed an excuse to get a massage, there you go.
8. Learn to breath. Proper breathing involves the diaphragm moving up and down in way that also pumps lymph through your body. Unfortunately, most of us have unhealthy breathing patterns. Doing some breathwork and retraining those patterns can really help with lymphatic health.
