Recently, the Cornerstone Foundation and a team from Kentucky traveled to Uganda, Africa on a short term medical mission. They worked alongside doctors at the Musana Community Development hospital lecturing, operating and instructing on the use of donated orthopedic equipment. Extreme poverty and lack of education result in typical 3rd world orthopedic problems such as chronic nonunions, osteomyelitis, sequestrums and even chronic dislocations. Treatment of such problems begin with educating the community about seeking medical treatment rather than ignoring the problem, or worse, seeing their local witch doctor. This is Dr. Hsin’s third trip to Uganda, and anyone interested in coming on a short term mission is welcome to join.

Dr. Hsin, Dr. Ocel, and Dr. Eickmann (joined by his son) spent the weekend out on the course enjoying a beautiful Colorado fall day at the Regis University Annual Golf Tournament. It was a great opportunity to connect outside the clinic while supporting Regis Athletics. These doctors are passionate about caring for athletes of all levels, from the sidelines to the clinic. We’re grateful for the chance to be involved in events that celebrate sports, community, and healthy living.

This past weekend, Dr. Ciccone was in Chicago for the AAOS Fundamentals of Knee & Shoulder Arthroscopy for Orthopaedic Residents. He presented lectures and taught shoulder surgery techniques to residents, sharing his expertise and passion for orthopaedics with the next generation of surgeons. 🙌 We’re so proud to have providers at Cornerstone who not only care for patients here at home, but also dedicate their time to teaching, mentoring, and continuing to learn through seminars like this.
