❤️♥️ February is American Heart Month ♥️❤️

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States, yet many risk factors are preventable with early detection and healthy lifestyle choices.

This month, we encourage our patients and community to focus on heart-healthy habits, including:

🩺 Monitoring blood pressure and cholesterol
🥗 Maintaining a balanced, nutritious diet
🏃 Staying physically active
💤 Managing stress and getting adequate sleep
🍷 Avoiding to***co and limiting alcohol
🫀 Keeping up with routine wellness visits

Heart disease can often develop silently, without noticeable symptoms. Regular checkups and preventive care play a key role in identifying risks early and protecting your long-term health.

Your heart works hard for you every day, let’s show it some love this February and all year long. ❤️

Beach Primary Care & Wellness is here to support your journey toward a healthier heart!

It’s respiratory season! 🤧🫧

With respiratory illnesses on the rise this time of year, we wanted to share a few quick tips and tricks for proper handwashing. Good hand hygiene is one of the simplest and most effective ways to reduce the spread of germs and help keep you, your loved ones, and our community safe and healthy all season long!

🦠 1. Handwashing is one of the easiest ways to stop the “germ chain”
Respiratory germs (like cold & flu viruses) can spread when you touch surfaces like doorknobs, phones, pens, counters, shopping carts… then touch your eyes, nose, or mouth.

⏱️ 2. 20 seconds is the magic number
Washing for at least 20 seconds helps remove germs better than a quick rinse.
Fun trick: sing “Happy Birthday” twice 🎶🎂

🤧 3. You can catch respiratory germs without being near a sneeze
Even without someone coughing in your face, viruses can still spread through shared surfaces (like elevator buttons, faucets, and waiting room clipboards).

🏥 4. Handwashing protects YOU and everyone around you
It helps protect:
kids 👧👦
seniors 👵👴
pregnant patients 🤰
immunocompromised patients 💛

💡 5. Washing hands at the right times matters most
During cold/flu season, the best times to wash are:
✅ after coughing/sneezing/blowing your nose
✅ before eating
✅ after using the restroom
✅ after being in public places
✅ when you get home

🧼 6. Hand sanitizer is awesome… but it has limits
Hand sanitizer works best when it’s:
✅ at least 60% alcohol
✅ rubbed in until completely dry

But it doesn’t work as well when hands are:
❌ greasy
❌ visibly dirty
❌ covered in mucus or grime
