I’ve had the pleasure of working with children as a Speech-Language Pathologist since 2007. I hold a Master of Science in Speech-Language and Auditory Pathology from East Carolina University. Soon after graduate school, I returned “home” to Fayetteville, NC. In Fayetteville I had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings serving children age’s birth through high-school. These settings include inclusive developmental preschools, elementary schools, “natural environments” (homes, daycares), as well as clinic based clients. In the clinic and preschools, collaboration between myself and other service providers was afforded to me. I feel this was paramount as a new clinician in that I was able to learn to assess the whole child from the perspectives of the Occupational and Physical therapists with whom I was able to work closely. To be able to assess the whole child and make appropriate referrals is critical in being able to ameliorate the communication, learning and feeding difficulties in my own clients. I opened Dogwood Developmental Therapy in Hampstead in February 2017 and moved to Topsail Beach full-time in February 2018. I moved into my current location on the mainland in Surf City in September 2019. I have a special interest in working with children with feeding, speech-intelligibility and pragmatic language difficulties due to Autism, sensory-integration, and motor-speech disorders. I am eager to bring my knowledge and experience with these sensitive populations to the Topsail Island Area.
