Here’s an Act with Intention request (if it aligns.)
I asked Chat GPT… about the The No Contempt Clause (Section 70302) hidden inside the “Big Beautiful Bill” allowing the president to ignore the Law and Congress…
If the president is the Executive Branch and he is allowed to defy the Legislative and Judicial Branch, that basically gives him Authoritarian Power….
I asked Chat GPT about this ^ and here’s what it said…
“the bill doesn't explicitly authorize presidential defiance—but it creates a loophole that invites it by stripping courts of the power to hold the executive accountable in key situations. That’s why legal scholars and watchdog groups say it erodes the constitutional balance of powers.”
If this concerns you, please call / email / reach out on social media to our US Senators —not just the ones in your state but ANY or ALL OF THEM, because this isn’t about the next vote —it’s about saving our Democracy! “Key Republican senators likely to push for removal: Ron Johnson, Rand Paul—possibly with support from moderates like Collins, Murkowski, and Moran.” (According to Chat GPT)
“As a very concerned American, I’m urging you to oppose the No Contempt Clause (Section 70302) in the House GOP budget and the new Grassley provision that would make it harder to hold current and future administrations accountable.
Right now, if a government official ignores a court order, a judge can hold them in contempt, imposing fines, sanctions, and even jail time until they comply. The Constitution gives our federal courts that power; it’s an essential part of our checks and balances.
Under the House GOP’s plan, presidents could potentially defy court orders without consequences. This alarming provision could also gut the power of our federal courts to enforce past injunctions, including injunctions issued under Democratic presidents, and give Donald Trump and future presidents of either party something no other president has had: the power to ignore the law and Congress.
Senator Grassley's proposal would stop the courts from issuing preliminary injunctions or temporary restraining orders against the U.S. government without an expensive bond, a measure that would also apply under future administrations. The ability to challenge the federal government’s laws and policies now or in the future, whether you’re a local church, a business owner, or anyone else, shouldn’t be reserved for the wealthy few.
No one—not even the President of the United States—is above the law. Weakening our courts to empower Trump and all future presidents threatens the rule of law and democracy itself.
Also, the Byrd Rule mandates that reconciliation provisions must have a direct budget effect —This clause has no measurable budget impact.
Congress depends on the courts to enforce their hearings, investigations, subpoenas and laws. To preserve its power to conduct oversight over this president, and future presidents, I’m urging you to remove the No Contempt Clause (Section 70302) and the Grassley provision from the budget bill.”
