Currently we are in a transition phase from a Christian-based charity that fed the homeless to a people-based charity that feeds change, community awareness/service, much needed education, and compassion back into our population. 2009...Almost 9 years ago...That's quite a bit of time! For one, I am no longer the same little girl leading this charity any longer. I will be married in a month, and starting my medical career in a year. With that being said, I feel that it may be time for Project Messiah to undergo some changes of its own. A little "make-over" if you will...
As I look back on the compassion from our donors and volunteers, as well as the impact that Project Messiah was able to make on so many people/families in need, I can't help but wonder what we may be capable of today in 2017? As I write this description, I think of our the current state of affairs arising in our beloved country at this very moment: Hurricane Harvey, followed by Hurricanes Irma, Jose, and Katia, Earthquakes in Mexico measuring at 8 magnitude, followed by a devastating tsunami, historical amounts of flooding, and so much destruction to properties and homes that the destruction has become absolutely unfathomable.
