Sutherlin Chapel of the Roses

Sutherlin Chapel of the Roses Sutherlin Chapel of the Roses has served families of Sutherlin and North Douglas County for more tha Celebrating life is our mission. That’s never changed.

Sutherlin Chapel of the Roses was established years ago, and serving families has always been our focus. We take pride in being able to guide people through some of their most difficult days. We take pride in maintaining a setting that allows people to find solace. And with pride, it never will. We've learned a lot over many years. Like how to present options without overwhelming. And how to meet the needs of many caring parties. People come to us in difficult times, and we respond with kindness, calmness, and expertise. Our goal is to create a beautiful occasion and make you feel welcome, always. We spend our days planning with families. We stay up to date with industry developments. And we make hard times a little easier. At Sutherlin Chapel of the Roses, we think of our job as having two parts: physical and emotional. The physical is burials, entombments, and inurnments. Most funeral homes consider their primary function to be handling remains. The emotional is working with families to design healing experiences. Our peaceful and intimate setting becomes a place where people find closure, renewal, and togetherness. And that’s the most rewarding part of what we do. Gathering with friends and family gives everyone the opportunity to share memories, express emotions, and find comforting support. Whether you choose burial or cremation; whether you select a formal funeral or a more relaxed memorial service, the need for acknowledgment of the loss with family and friends is ever-present. We can help you create a unique meaningful ceremony to express the genuine individuality of your loved one. If burial has been selected, usually any ceremonies we design revolve around the casket being present. You can choose to follow tradition, with a viewing, and then a funeral service in a church or memorial chapel. Or you could decide to have a more relaxed service, even in your family home. We offer families a beautiful setting in which to come together to honor their loved one. But, you may certainly choose to celebrate their life in a more unique setting. No matter where you decide to gather together, such a service will make a difference in the lives of all who attend. Sutherlin Chapel of the Roses is the ultimate provider of creating healing experiences in the community. From services to workshops, they take pride in drawing the community together. All too often, families discount the value of ceremony after the death of a loved one, and they certainly don’t want you to make that mistake. Coming together after a loss is a very essential part of the grieving process. The team is here to listen to your concerns, share our experience, and help you to arrive at the perfect way to gather together before your loved one's interment in the cemetery of your choice. Visit their warm and comfortable offices at 783 W Central Ave Sutherlin, OR 97479, or call to schedule an appointment (541) 459-2281.

Myron Allen Trapp

Myron Allen Trapp, mostly known as Allen was a great husband, dad, brother, friend, grandfather and great grandfather. His common name Allen M. Trapp (the M stands for Magnificent) lived up to his name. He was a man of honor and love and magnificence. He lived a life of adventure, endurance and fun. As a child at heart he filled the room with joy, always there to dry a tear and crack a joke. He was a man full of wisdom, jokes, fun facts and stories made up and real. He always kept his family together and going. He loved the Lord and his family. Always proud to claim and celebrate them. He is survived by his wife Joan of 55 years, his two daughters, Angela and Michelle, 5 grand children, Christopher, Nicholas, Felicia, Natassia and Gabrielle. He also has 13 great grandchildren. He truly was the life of the party, and now he is partying in heaven with His Heavenly Father. The ultimate prize.

Our Story

Originally known as Chapel of the Firs, our funeral home was started by the Stearns Family in the early 1900s in Oakland, Oregon. The business relocated to Sixth Avenue in Sutherlin, and later moved to Central Avenue after it was renamed Sutherlin Chapel of the Roses on November 1, 2007.

We at Sutherlin Chapel of the Roses believe that the choices you make to celebrate the life of your loved one should be as special as the person they represent. That’s why you’ll always find our staff ready to go the extra mile to meet your special needs and requests.

Your loved one deserves the highest level of respect and dignity, a trust that we take very seriously. Allow us to be a part of your family when it matters most. Whether you have an immediate need for our services or you wish to begin pre-planning a funeral arrangement for you or someone you love, call us. We will be proud to serve you.

Of the many arrangements made after losing a loved one, the first is the selection of a funeral home. The staff of Sutherlin Chapel of the Roses can create a beautiful tribute and provide guidance and suggestions on the many decisions made when planning a funeral, cremation, memorial, celebration of life, and/or burial service.
