UN1F1ED2 Global Packaging Group was able to provide boxes and packing tape to assist Julie Creme with her mission to support her home country of Ukraine. Within a short amount of time on Sunday, these boxes were loaded with community donations! They will be making their way to New Jersey then directly to Ukraine, some by the end of the week.
We would like to say thank you to Julie for letting us be a part of this amazing drive and also to UN1F1ED2 employees Melissa McGovern and Lynn Johnson who coordinated the donation and also volunteered at the drive.
FROM WINY RADIO: Julie Creme had tears in her eyes Sunday after a long afternoon of collecting donations for her homeland, Ukraine. “I grew up Kyiv and I came here when I was 14. That is my connection. Ukraine is my first home. I feel very grateful and blessed to be able to help the people who are going through this horrible time.” Creme and dozens of volunteers collected items for their Humanitarian Aid Drive for Ukraine on Saturday and Sunday at the Woodstock Evangelical Covenant Church. “I’m looking around the room right now and it’s unbelievable. I’m so pleased with the way the community came together. A lot of people told me they were going to help and I am amazed at the outpouring. We saw people today with absolutely no connection to Ukraine who were in tears while making their donations. Many people said they are praying for Ukraine which is the best thing we could ask for.” Creme says she’s hoping to ship as soon as possible. “We are hoping to have most of these items on the ground in Ukraine by the end of the week. We still need drivers to bring the items to New Jersey which is where we will ship from. As of right now, they are still able to ship to Ukraine”, said Creme. Volunteers from the Woodstock Evangelical Covenant Church as well as the Woodstock Volunteer Fire Association Station 76 and Woodstock EMS were among those who waved flags on route 169, directed traffic at the church, unloaded vehicles and sorted the thousands of donated items. “The community really came together today. We had people from the church, we had people that I had never met and we even had people from Waterbury drive here today to make a donation”, said Creme. In addition to the donated items, $7,200 in monetary donations were collected for shipping costs. At $2.20 per pound to ship, more donations will be needed. If you’d like to make a donation for shipping costs, please call Julie Creme at 860-412-4579. Pictured: Volunteers take a well-deserved break at the end of their collection drive on Sunday afternoon.
