Stowe Farm Pediatrics offers private, unhurried ear piercing appointments for all ages. Piercings can be done in-home or at our office; we’ve recently added new online booking options for Wednesday and Friday appointments, or you can submit an inquiry form to schedule an in-home piercing or find another day or time! We use the tried and true Blomdahl piercing system which features a sterile, reliable system and medical-grade titanium or medical-grade plastic piercing studs (different cute styles available to choose from!). Your piercing will be performed by one of our pediatric clinicians, and we always take the time to walk through all steps of the procedure, discuss our aftercare recommendations, and make sure all questions are answered!

We offer personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate support for all things lactation, from prenatal consultations to support after delivery to troubleshooting problems and beyond! My SFP families know what an integral role our nurse practitioners, Becky and Jenn, play in this practice. Becky has been with me since day one, and Jenn joined almost a year ago and almost instantly became an absolutely indispensable part of SFP as well. I am so thankful to have such dedicated, compassionate, and skilled nurse practitioners on my team, and I’m so thankful, too, for all the wonderful nurse practitioners who I’ve worked with and learned from in the past (especially all you NICU NNPs who walked me through countless umbilical lines and intubations and chest tubes!) ❤️. It’s been a heck of a month - and year! - at SFP. When I first started the practice two years ago I was terrified that it would be a total flop. But I was tallying up the vaccines we’ve administered in October (crushed our previous record!) and thought it might be fun to do some counting. I’m so proud of what we’ve built, and so endlessly thankful for all of the many, many people who have helped to make this all possible.

I’ve almost quit medicine at so many points - I remember being extremely pregnant once during a rotation on the pediatric hematology-oncology service as a resident (a very heavy place to be), and not being able to get home on a Sunday evening because of a snowstorm, and crying myself to sleep in the call room, missing my other two babies at home and not knowing if I’d get home in time to even see them the next night.

And then the disillusionment at the state of health care in this country, and the challenges coming from all sides - the administrative burdens and profit-driven systems, the lack of physician autonomy and devaluing of primary care and pediatrics, the misguided metrics and insane time pressure, and more.

Building a practice from the ground up hasn’t been easy, but I’ve put my heart and soul into SFP and it’s fun to take a step back and reflect a little bit on what we’ve accomplished! Thank you to our amazing families for entrusting us with the care of your most precious little people. I’m proud that we’ve been able to carve our own independent and creative path in these weird times, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds!

Shameless plug for the upcoming production of The Sound of Music at Leland Public School - opening night is tomorrow (Friday 10/24) and there are shows both this weekend and next! Even if two of my daughters weren’t in the show, I would still recommend it wholeheartedly - there’s not much better than the beauty and joy of student theater. These kids (and the adults who spearhead the effort!) work so hard so come out to support them and get Do-Re-Mi or Edelweiss stuck in your head for weeks 🤣

Okay, I am seriously so excited about this. This is Laura’s brainchild and we have been talking about this for a while; I’m so excited it’s finally happening! Full description below, and you can register at stowefarmpediatrics.com/events or through the link in bio. ✨🌙❤️

This 5 week series for girls ages 10-14 aims to celebrate the shifts and growth happening during this developmental period in a safe and open environment. We will practice moving our bodies in yoga and other movement modalities, discuss how our bodies and brains might shift over the next few years, and create a fun and light environment all while creating a community to learn and feel safe asking any and all questions.

Each week we will share stories, answer journal prompts, and learn together ways to support ourselves and our friends during these times. Laura Piskor is an educator, doula and yoga teacher who is passionate about helping girls feel connected to their bodies and creating a space where all bodies and feelings are celebrated. Dr. Danziger is a board-certified pediatrician who will also help facilitate the group during some sessions.

The classes will be held on Thursdays from 4 to 5 pm, on November 6, 13, and 20, and December 4th, at Stowe Farm Pediatrics in Suttons Bay. We will also have a special session on Friday 11/28 (time TBD). At this class, we will have a small celebration and invite a trusted female adult to join the girls attending.

It’s a beautiful day for doing a newborn home visit! What glorious weather we’ve been having. I wish this had been an option when my daughters were newborns - even with their spring & summer birthdays, it was a pain to get them all bundled up and strapped into their car seats, and uncomfortable for me so soon postpartum. It’s so nice to be able to bring my gear and go to the family instead, where they’re comfortable, and we can have an unhurried chat about how things are going and check baby out right there. And driving around the county in my truck with my medical supplies makes me feel like a real old-fashioned country doctor 😅🥰🌾

Guys, guys, I’m so excited about these new stickers, hot off the press & featuring more SFP animal illustrations by - Albert, our sweetest dwarf mini horse, and then the incomparable bovine pair, Frances and Gloria 🐮🐮🐴❤️. I don’t know about you, but when I was a kid I got cheapo character stickers at my pediatrician’s office (though I loved them, let’s be honest 🤣).
