The first of five community conversations on disability will be held next Tuesday, Feb. 3rd, here at the Library. Disability is something that touches all of us at some point in our lives. This conversation is an opportunity to learn with and from members of our community, guided by disability inclusion specialist Derenda LeFevre. We'd love for you to join us.

Jaw pain isn’t always just a dental issue!
If you have:
• Jaw clicking or popping
• Pain with chewing or yawning
• Headaches or neck pain
• Facial tightness
• Limited mouth opening

You may be dealing with TMJ dysfunction—and physical therapy can help.

Your jaw doesn’t work alone. It’s closely connected to your neck, posture, breathing, and muscle tension. When one piece isn’t working well, pain shows up.

How physical therapy helps jaw pain:
✔️ Improve jaw and neck mobility
✔️ Address posture and muscle imbalances
✔️ Reduce muscle tension and guarding
✔️ Retrain jaw movement patterns
✔️ Decrease headaches and facial pain

You don’t have to live with jaw pain or constant tension.

Heel pain when you first get out of bed? 👣
That sharp, stabbing pain could be plantar fasciitis.

Plantar fasciitis happens when the thick band of tissue on the bottom of your foot becomes irritated—often from:
• Tight calves or Achilles
• Poor foot mechanics
• Sudden increases in activity
• Unsupportive footwear
• Prolonged standing or walking

Rest alone usually isn’t enough.

How physical therapy helps:
✔️ Reduce pain and inflammation
✔️ Improve ankle and foot mobility
✔️ Address calf and lower-leg tightness
✔️ Strengthen foot and ankle muscles
✔️ Correct walking and running mechanics

The goal isn’t just pain relief—it’s fixing the why so it doesn’t keep coming back.

Rib pain is more common than you think!

Pain around the ribs isn’t just from trauma or a bad cough. It can come from:
• Poor posture
• Muscle imbalances
• Thoracic spine stiffness
• Breathing pattern dysfunction
• Overuse or repetitive movements

The ribs move every time you breathe, reach, rotate, or lift—so when something isn’t moving well, pain shows up fast.

How physical therapy can help:
✔️ Assess rib, spine, and shoulder movement
✔️ Improve mobility of stiff ribs and thoracic spine
✔️ Strengthen supporting muscles
✔️ Retrain breathing mechanics
✔️ Reduce pain with manual therapy and targeted exercise
