Juanita Porter introduced Dr. Lexie Cross, EMC’s Hospital Pharmacist, to the Diabetic Support Group. She gave an overview of diabetes, discussed common medication types, oral and injectable medications for type 2 diabetes.

Discussed the types of insulin and how they work. She demonstrated the proper use of the insulin syringe and insulin pen.

Much interest was generated with the discussion of the Tirzepatide (Mounjaro) medication and how it affects the body.

Reviewed the key benefits of wearing a continuous glucose monitor(CGM). Ended with a question and answer session.

The winner of the door prize was Wanda Alston.
