Over the past few months, I realized that there are many people who do not know what I do, so I want to tell you a little bit about my role in working with children and their families. I am a licensed professional counselor, which means I can and do work with individuals of all ages on life issues, whether it be anxiety, depression, grief, marriage or just everyday life. We all need someone to help us sort things out. I am also a Registered Play Therapist. I get to work with children starting at the age of 18 months, who do not have the ability to tell others what's wrong with them emotionally. You may notice or comment that your child is cranky, whiney, angry, frustrated, has temper tantrums or cries a lot and you're not sure why or what to do. My hope is that I can help. What your child is doing is telling you in the only way they know how that something is wrong in their little world. They don't know what it is or how to describe it. They just know that it doesn't feel good and they want the feelings to go away. This is where I come in. I have the training and ability to meet your children where they're at and help them understand and cope with their feelings through their natural language, play. As parents, we begin playing and interacting with our children at birth, so it's only natural that we help them, encourage and strengthen them through play as well. Let's work together to get your babies smiling and laughing again
