Tendon Vs Ligament β
𦴠TENDON
β Connects muscle to bone
β Made of dense, parallel collagen fibers (very strong, low elasticity)
β Transfers force generated by muscle contraction to bone
β Enables movement at joints
β Poor blood supply β heals slowly when injured
β Examples: Achilles tendon, biceps tendon
𦴠LIGAMENT
β Connects bone to bone
β Made of collagen fibers with slight elasticity
β Provides joint stability and alignment
β Prevents excessive or abnormal joint movement
β More elastic than tendons, but still strong
β Examples: ACL, PCL, medial collateral ligament
β KEY DIFFERENCE TO REMEMBER
β Tendon = Movement (muscle pulls bone)
β Ligament = Stability (bone holds bone)
