Many of you know that Bri was re-admitted to the hospital due to rare postpartum complications.
Her daughter Quinn was born June 8th and they returned home on June 12th. Two days later as they were moving to a new home, Bri started to have some chest pain and shortness of breath. She went back to the hospital to find out she had a pneumothorax/collapsed lung (which happened after her first birth as well). Only this time, the pneumothorax/collapsed lung was much larger than the first time.
Bri was re-admitted to the hospital on June 14th. As I type this on June 28th, she is still there in the ICU. She has spent 7 days in the ICU where she is unable to see her newborn or toddler. I won't go into all the details but believe me when I tell you, she has been living a nightmare. In addition to being separated from her brand new baby and toddler for a large portion of 3 weeks, she has experienced uncontrolled pain, EIGHT, yes EIGHT, chest tube placements, lung surgery, and an extended amount of time figuring out the root cause.
She had surgery on Wednesday June 25th and continues to recover in the ICU waiting until her lung is healthy enough for her to go home. I share this update now as we are hopeful she will be heading home in the next few days. Even though she will be leaving the hospital to recover at home, she is still going to need lots of support over the next few months. Healing from a pleurodesis (the lung surgery she had) is known to be a long and painful recovery.
If you feel called to support Bri, you can sign up to bring a meal, prepare extra when you are making dinner for your family and add it to Bri's freezer, sign up to order her pizza one night, or make a monetary donation.
