Sweeny Community Hospital Lowers Tax Rate by 47%

On September 16, 2025 following a public hearing, the Sweeny Community Hospital Board approved a new tax rate of .195748, which is less than the No New Revenue Tax Rate. The new tax rate is a reduction from the 2024 tax rate of 0.368068, which will result in a decrease of 46.82% of taxes collected by the hospital district. This is the fourth consecutive tax reduction year over year.
“We are very excited to be in our brand new, state-of-the-art facility and still have the ability to cut the tax rate by a large amount. We are looking forward to expanding services and the success it will bring to this community.” says Kelly Park, CEO of Sweeny Community Hospital.

SCH Auxiliary was so kind to donate 80 pink robes for use in our imaging suite.

These robes are used instead of hospital gowns to provide a more comfortable visit for our patients. They are kept in a blanket warmer for a toasty touch. THANK YOU, AUXILIARY!

Last week we said "See you later" to our dear Jeanetta Ellis. She retires from the hospital after 25+ years in Dietary. She leaves big shoes to fill and we will miss her dearly. Congratulations Jeanetta!

Sweeny Community Hospital announces the successful completion of its new accreditation process from has been awarded by DNV.

By earning accreditation, SCH has demonstrated it meets or exceeds patient safety standards (Conditions of Participation) set forth by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. DNV’s accreditation program is the only one to integrate the ISO 9001 Quality Management System with the Medicare Conditions of Participation.

“The DNV program is consistent with our long-term commitment to quality, patient safety, and our community,” says Kelly Park, CEO. “The ability to integrate ISO 9001 quality standards with our clinical and financial processes is a major step forward.”
