🌪️ On This Day in Sweetwater History: April 19, 1986
At around 7:30 a.m., an F3 tornado tore through Sweetwater, carving a 2-mile path of destruction through our community. With wind speeds between 158–206 mph, the storm leveled homes, businesses, and apartment buildings.
Ninety people were injured, and one life was tragically lost.
This devastating event is a powerful reminder of Sweetwater’s resilience — and the importance of remembering where we’ve been.
