Celebrating 111 incredible years with our sweet Annie!

Born on July 14, 1914, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Annie moved to Sweetwater at the age of five with her family. She graduated from Newman High School in 1932 and went on to earn her associate’s degree in business from San Angelo Business College. Annie worked as a secretary here in Sweetwater and eventually retired as a plant manager from Flintkote.

In 1960, she married WWII veteran Harold Hopkins in Roby, Texas. Though they had no children, Annie is a proud and loving aunt to many great nieces and nephews. She has been a longtime member of First Baptist Church and has always had a soft spot for cats and a love for gardening.

Annie’s favorite color is red and her favorite drink is Coca Cola, so we made sure to surround her with both as her family, old neighbors, local news, Sweetwater policemen, and her Sweetwater Healthcare Center family came together to celebrate her special day.
Happy Birthday, Annie. You are such a joy and an inspiration to us all! ❤️🎂🥤
