⭐️ Night Shift Shoutout! ⭐️

We’re proud to recognize two incredible nurses — Pamela Doss, LPN and Savannah Brazzell, MSN, RN — for their outstanding dedication on our Senior Behavioral Unit!

Both of these amazing night shift nurses go above and beyond every single shift — providing compassionate care, supporting their teammates, and ensuring our patients receive the very best. Their support staff recently took the time to recognize them for always being there — lending a hand, offering guidance, and making nights run smoothly for everyone.

Thank you, Pamela and Savannah, for your commitment, teamwork, and the positive impact you bring to every night. You make a difference in so many lives — patients and coworkers alike!

Depression doesn’t always look like tears and isolation.
Sometimes, it looks like laughing at the right time, smiling in photos, showing up for work, and saying “I’m fine” when asked.

It can look like being the life of the party while quietly feeling empty inside.
It can look like keeping everything together on the outside, while inside there’s a heaviness no one else can see.

Depression isn’t always visible, and that’s why kindness matters. Check on your friends, check on the ones who seem strong, and check on the ones who never complain.

A smile doesn’t always mean happiness. Sometimes it’s just a mask.

You are not alone. 💛

Geriatric Psychiatry is a subspecialty of psychiatry dedicated to the mental health of older adults.

It focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of psychiatric conditions that often arise with aging, such as depression, anxiety, late-life schizophrenia, and dementia-related disorders.

Geriatric Psychiatrists also consider how medical illnesses, medications, social changes, and cognitive decline affect emotional well-being.

The goal is to provide comprehensive care that supports both mental health and quality of life for aging individuals.

Our team recently took a moment to celebrate the completion of the amazing academic journey of our Director, Mrs. Renee Smith.

Renee, already a Master’s prepared Social Worker, started and finished curriculum required to become a Master’s prepared Nurse.

With state boards for official credentialing still ahead, we are celebrating every milestone as this journey is challenging, especially with the other responsibilities she holds.

When asked why she decided to pursue this continued education she says, “I want to be able to speak to every need of our patient. I want to contribute in every way as a coworker and employee. The more I know, the better suited I am to provide and that is most important to me.”

As we age, life brings many changes—some joyful, others difficult.

For many older adults, feelings of isolation, loss, and declining health can become overwhelming, and sadly, su***de remains a very real risk in the geriatric population.

Today, we want to shed light on this important issue, break the silence, and remind everyone that hope and help are always within reach.

Awareness saves lives, and together, we can ensure that our seniors feel valued, supported, and never alone.

In this video, you’ll hear from the wife of one of our patients, who shares her heartfelt experience with our Senior Behavioral Unit.

Her words remind us why compassion, dignity, and quality care make all the difference for patients and their families.

Watch her story and see how our team is walking alongside families every step of the way.

Alzheimer’s is a journey that doesn’t just affect memory—it changes lives.

It often begins with small things—forgetting appointments, misplacing items, or struggling to find the right words.

Over time, these changes progress. Confusion grows, daily tasks become harder, and familiar faces may feel unfamiliar.

In later stages, independence fades, and full-time care becomes necessary.

Through every stage, love, patience, and support are essential. Families carry the weight, but also the privilege, of walking beside their loved one through each chapter.
