Our HUGE freezer is bare, and bellies may soon be hungry. If you have breastmilk to donate or frozen or shelf stable food you’d like to make available to those in need in our community, please contact us.

We have many families who rely on the donor milk brought to The Birthstone Center. Let’s allow our kindness to shine through when we need our village the most.

🔴 Based on normal participant purchase patterns, we anticipate that existing funds will allow WIC operations to continue into November.
🔴 We understand from the recent White House announcement that there are plans to fund WIC through the shutdown using alternative funding sources. Additional funding would be required to sustain program operations further.
🔴 If funding is not provided, and the WIC program must shut down, DHHS will provide 3-days advance notice to participants, local agencies, retailers.
🔴 DHHS remains committed to serving women, infants, and children.

📢 WIC Update for Swain County
As of October 24, 2025, NC WIC remains open and fully operational. We have funding through mid-November and will share updates if anything changes due to the federal shutdown. Please keep using your benefits and attend your scheduled appointments. NC WIC is open for business!
