I am an engineer who has been in the environmental industry for over 30 years. I have always worked to make our food and water safer. Unfortunately despite best efforts we have allowed contaminants like PFAS (forever chemicals) to enter and has contaminated about 50% of all drinking water. These chemicals build up in your body over the years. (bioaccumulation) So it will impact children and the yet to be born the most.
This contamination will take generations for us to sort out and reverse. Technologies are just now being deployed that can destroy these contaminant.
The immediate solution for the next generation is to filter your drinking water at point of use.

I have installed reverse osmosis systems at all of my children's houses for all children and women of child bearing age.

Short money. About $200 or less when on sale. This is the one I used and sell/install locally.

They did not exist 60 years ago and now they are in virtually every drop of water we drink.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a large group of man-made chemicals which have been used for their water-resistant, oil-resistant, lubrication, or non-flammable properties – fire-fighting foams, anti-stick coating on cookware, food packaging, furniture, carpets, clothing, cosmetics, etc. PFAS are all characterized by carbon-fluorine (C-F) chemical bonds, which are highly stable and will not biodegrade. PFAS enter surface and ground water via multiple means – municipal wastewater, landfill leachate, leachate from contaminated soils (ex. airports, industrial sites).
