Stephanie Bell West MSW, LISW Counseling those affected by mental health and relationship problems with 9 years of experience. My experience is extensive, and fully at your service.

I truly believe that seeking help is a sign of courage and strength. It is this inherent strength displayed by those struggling that inspires me to do what I love; help my clients turn that strength and courage into inner peace. I enjoy working with people, helping them discover the things within themselves and their lives causing their distress and guiding them on a journey to reshape their perceptions, emotions, and reactions to achieve that inner peace. It is my sincere belief that learning how to manage your mental health is a life altering experience, improving your quality of life and promoting harmony. I pride myself in being a safe, healthy person to share your life story with, regardless of your background, life experiences, or unique situations. I am always ready with an open mind, a listening ear, and a comforting presence. I am here to help you find your inner peace, no matter the circumstances. I have a Master’s Degree in Social Work and have been a Licensed Social worker since 2013. My experience includes working in the community as a Case Manager for both adults with mental health disorders as well as children and families. I have been a clinical therapist for the past four years working with adolescents and adults with mental health symptoms, as well as individuals with addiction diagnoses. My therapy techniques include utilizing solutions-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and existential therapy. I am always learning and growing in my techniques, and am excited to be adding new therapy modalities soon including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. I look forward to being a supportive part of your mental health journey!

One of the best things I heard from one of my Social Work professors was "Anything worth doing is worth doing badly."

This is so against the grain of the Baby Boomer Generation and even Generation X. Persons raised by those generations likely heard "If you do something, do it well or don't do it at all." To them in their time that statement was empowering. It gave them the extra boost they needed to finish the project.

Millennial and after pften hear the second quote above and hear "if I can't do the best or be the best, I might as well not even try." That is SUCH a different message than what it was intended by Baby Boomers and Generation X.

Why is there such a difference? I believe it is because there were major technological advances that occurred which resulted in a sudden increase in expectations and demands on our time. We want to do everything and know so much more we can do but our time is limited.

Do what you can with what time you have. Focus on your priorities first. If you have to spend 10 second brushing your teeth, it was better than none. A five minute walk outside is better than none. Taking deep breaths and staying calm with your kids or partner one time is better than none. To start anything, it is likely you'll be bad at it. Try it anyway!
