Millie & Pat came together to bake chocolate crinkle cookies using our Community Lifestyle’s grandmother’s cherished Christmas recipes, a tradition full of love and memories. We made 79 cookies (technically 80, but we had to taste one to make sure they were good 😊) and delivered them to one of our local Sylvania fire departments as a small thank you and a Happy Holidays. It meant so much to give back to the first responders who take such good care of our community.

This past holiday season, our Independent Living tenants came together with full hearts and helping hands to assemble holiday baskets using the non-perishable food items donated for our initiative, Betty’s Baskets.

This mission was inspired by Sandy Suiler, a nurse practitioner with Mercy St. V’s, who serves some of the most underserved areas of our community. For years, Sandy has quietly and faithfully created baskets for families in need. This work is truly her calling.

Sandy began her nursing journey alongside one of our late tenants, Betty, and it feels especially meaningful that her legacy continues through this act of love and service.

Our residents donated 20 baskets, and together with others across the community, 167 baskets were delivered to families throughout Toledo this holiday season.

This is what community looks like. This is compassion in action. And this is the beautiful reminder that even the simplest acts of kindness can leave the greatest impact. ❤️🎄

Our Director of Plant Operations and his assistant recently hosted a hands-on workshop with our Independent Living residents, with the simple idea of creating something that would add to our annual Christmas décor. What unfolded was so much more. Laughter, collaboration, patience, and pride filled the room. The ladies graciously stepped back to give the gentlemen space to create, and the final result was nothing short of perfection. Watching this moment unfold was truly magical. Our annual Lakes of Sylvania Villa Thanksmas celebration was truly heartwarming this year. It’s one of our favorite traditions, and this year’s gathering felt extra special. Our Community Lifestyle Director prepared the main dish - including a perfectly roasted first-ever turkey! - and our residents contributed their cherished holiday side dishes, creating a meal that was simply unforgettable.

To end the evening, we enjoyed a joyful sing-along of classic Christmas melodies, accompanied by the beautiful, angelic piano playing of one of our very own residents. The room was filled with laughter, gratitude, and the warmth of togetherness.

We’re excited to take this opportunity to introduce our newest Director of Sales, Selena Shields!
Selena is a proud graduate of The University of Toledo, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management. Since graduating, she has been an essential part of The Lakes of Monclova—first serving as AP/Payroll Coordinator, then advancing to the role of Admissions Coordinator. Her strong work ethic, leadership, and passion for service have made her a standout from the very beginning.
Outside of work, Selena loves staying active through softball and enjoys cheering on her favorite teams at hockey, basketball, and football games.
When asked about her favorite part of working for Trilogy, Selena shared that she values being part of a company that truly invests in its people. She appreciates that Trilogy not only cares deeply for its residents but also genuinely supports employees in achieving their personal and professional goals. Trilogy is the greatest place I have ever belonged.
Selena is thrilled to continue her growth journey with Trilogy and is especially excited to serve the Sylvania community, providing our residents with the highest quality of life.
