After much thought and prayer, Michelle and I have made the difficult decision to close Tembo Home Care. This chapter has been filled with purpose, compassion, and the incredible blessing of serving families across our community.

To every client, caregiver, and supporter who trusted us along the way — thank you. Your faith, loyalty, and kindness meant more than words can express. Together, we made a difference in the lives of so many, and for that, we will always be grateful.

Though Tembo Home Care is coming to a close, the heart to serve and care for others remains the same. This isn’t an ending — it’s simply a new beginning led by faith and guided by God’s timing.

Thank you all for being part of this journey.

The Albany Police Department would like the public’s assistance with locating Charlie Lee Hayes, 83, last seen on August 26, 2025.

Height/Weight: 5’10”, 150 lbs
Hair/Eyes: Curly gray hair, brown eyes
Clothing: Blue jeans, Dougherty sweatshirt

Great information for seniors!

New Senior Tax Deduction Announced in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act

As part of the recently signed One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a significant temporary tax benefit for seniors has been introduced — designed to offer meaningful financial relief during retirement years.

🔹 Starting in 2025, a new $6,000 deduction will be available for each qualifying individual (i.e., $12,000 total for a married couple where both spouses qualify)
🔹 This applies to both itemizers and non-itemizers — so more seniors can benefit
🔹 To qualify, you must be at least age 65
🔹 The deduction phases out once your modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) exceeds $75,000 ($150,000 for joint filers)
🔹 This benefit is temporary, running from 2025 through 2028

💡 What’s a deduction?
A deduction reduces the amount of your income that is subject to federal income tax. For example, if you qualify for this $6,000 deduction and your taxable income was $50,000, you’d only be taxed on $44,000 — lowering your tax bill.

This change recognizes the growing financial pressures many seniors face and offers a new way to reduce taxable income. It is a meaningful step toward easing the tax burden for older adults — especially those on fixed incomes.
