🚨 Community Update: Staying Prepared
Many of you have noticed the haze in the air lately. While the wildfires currently impacting parts of Georgia are not near Worth County, the smoke drifting into our region is affecting air quality and serving as an important reminder to stay aware and prepared.
Our thoughts are with the communities and first responders working tirelessly to contain these fires. And like many of you, we are hoping and praying for much-needed rain across our state. 🌧️
Even when fires are miles away, dry conditions mean it’s a good time to take simple precautions here at home:
🔥 Avoid outdoor burning
Please hold off on burning yard debris, using burn barrels, or lighting fire pits during dry conditions.
⚠️ Limit activities that create sparks
Equipment like chainsaws, welders, and even parking vehicles on dry grass can increase risk when conditions are right.
🏡 Take a few minutes to prepare your property.
Clear leaves and pine straw away from structures, clean gutters, and make sure your address is clearly visible from the road.
🎒 Have a simple grab-and-go plan
Keep medications, IDs, pet supplies, chargers, and essentials in one place so you’re ready if conditions ever change quickly.
📞 Report immediately if you see something unusual, don’t assume someone else has already called it in.
This is about being ready, staying aware, and looking out for one another, just like our community always does. ❤️
Let’s continue keeping our neighbors across Georgia in our thoughts and do our part here at home.
