All good things.... we made it to another EMS week. For a decade plus Travis Mathes and Jessica Mathes have served communities & townships as valuable First Response providers... several years later Emily Nickels joined the group.... she is very busy as a mom and Paramedic in eastern KS. All 3 have served communities in which they don't necessarily reside but saw the need. I have personally served our communities for 21 yrs. The longest association I've had in my lifetime, I gave my all into serving others. Often forgoing my own comfort to do so... rural people really mattered to me... no original connections to the area but once here I dove into it with all the passion I could muster.

Often it is/has been taken for granted. It is a rarity to have people volunteer completely uncompensated. Newer generations may never understand why we did this but to us it meant something... a desire to serve others... as time progresses systems like ours are disappearing. Volunteers giving selflessly....

I say this time and time again.... treat people/groups like they don't exist they soon won't exist....

If you see an EMS person out there be it a full timer, part-timer or volunteer I encourage you to give them an "attaboy".... it is often is a thankless position. It isn't heard often... they don't do it for the recognition/pay but for the life that might be saved....
