The best possible news to share! Lou received a kidney on Tuesday and everything went perfectly. He’s recovering beautifully and we are all grateful and overjoyed. There are good people in the world! Let’s be those people! Love and light to you all.

I have contemplated writing this for some time now, but for a number of reasons, couldn’t muster up the courage to do so.

I need a kidney transplant to continue living. That’s the direct and simple truth. Dialysis has kept me alive for 5 years now and I am beyond grateful for that. However, it has taken a toll on my quality of life and over time, my body, and my physical and mental health.

I have come to the place where I am ready to ask the “big ask” directly. It is with faith and hope that someone, whether a friend or stranger, might (re)consider becoming my living donor.

After surviving (against the odds) my journey through Stage IV cancer thanks to the support of extraordinary loved ones, I continue to do everything I can to make the best of the cards that I’ve been dealt. I continue to maintain a positive outlook, paying it forward and living as full a life as possible. I have had my share of blessings, and I am not afraid of dying. However, the fact is that I’m not done living. After everything that I have overcome, I would like a chance to realize a life free of disease, free of suffering, free from dialysis.

Giving the gift of life is a miraculous and selfless gesture. If you have ever considered donating, or if my appeal speaks to your heart, I thank you with all of mine.

You can find more information at www.louisdinolfi.com.

To find out if we’re “a match” and if you are a candidate for donation, call The Strong Memorial Transplant Clinic at

Reached the big 6-0 milestone last month! Still feel like I'm 30.

This year also marks 10 years since my dance with cancer began AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, September will mark my 5th year of being cancer free. Woo hoo!

Finally mustered up the courage to audition for a play (after a 10 year hiatus) and "what do you know?" I got called back and also was asked to audition for another play. The experience has helped rebuild some much needed confidence.

Still on dialysis and doing well. Praying for a kidney transplant and hoping to find a living donor this year. If you have ever considered being an altruistic donor and would like more information about my story or the Donor Swap Program, please contact my Donor Champion, Sandy at sandyspatz@rcn.com. Or if you'd like to see if you're my match. call Strong Memorial Transplant Clinic at 585-275-7753 press 1 and ask for the Living Donor Coordinator. Thanks!

Still working and hoping to help my friend Lou find a kidney.

Did you know?

Living kidney donors can live a healthy normal life with one functioning kidney. One kidney can take care of the job that both kidneys do.
The overall lifespan for the recipient from a living donor is slightly better because living donors must be very healthy in order to donate.

Still working and hoping to help Lou find a kidney.

Did You Know?

Sometimes, someone wants to donate a kidney to a specific person, but tests show the two people are medically incompatible. There are still ways that you can donate.
Kidney paired donation (KPD) is when a computer matches donors and recipients to create compatible pairs. Think about it as an exchange. Here’s how it works:
You want to donate a kidney to someone, but you are not medically compatible.
Another person wants to donate a kidney to someone, but they do not match.
A computer matches you with a compatible recipient, and their donor matches with the person you want to help.
Swapping donors allows both transplants to happen.
KPD allows hundreds of people to get a transplant each year. The person you want to help may get a transplant more quickly in an exchange.
