56yo F/ 2wks after Droopy Eyelid Surgery
Droopy eyelids are one of the most common things I see in my practice as an Oculofacial plastic surgeon. It’s our “bread and butter,” as some would say.
When your eyelids get droopy you subconsciously start to elevate/arch your brows to try to compensate. My patients usually don’t even realize they are doing it until A) I point it out in photos or B) they realize post surgically that they aren’t doing it anymore and they have less tension aches.
With this patient you can really see a remarkable difference in the animation of the brows/forehead. Pre operatively she is arching her brows, and despite that, her lids are still significantly impairing her visual field. In just 2 wks post op she has perfect anatomical eyelid height and can finally relax her brows to where they can sit at their intended position.
She not only can see better, but additionally she will benefit from a smoother forehead, a more anatomical and aesthetically pleasing brow position, less headaches and a well rested/youthful look. We can also appreciate her beautiful blue eyes now too!
