I’m absolutely thrilled to have dropped the newest episode of Sage in Time: The Podcast. Season TWO is finally here!

This episode, "Amanda: I See You" features Amanda Fernandez, LRNmore Founder and Neuro-Inclusive and Cross-Cultural Strategist who pays special attention to members of the neurodivergent community to recognize unique traits and offer opportunities to upskill and reskill, help them find their greatest successes.

I came to meet Amanda through Reddit and am fortunate to call her my friend. In the few short weeks that I've known her, I've learned much and have taken those lessons to apply within my therapy work within this population.

I hope you'll join us for 45 minutes or so to learn about this unique cultural group with its own language and traditions that ultimately result in building community and hope.

Check out https://youtu.be/Y66ZXIyDfuA (audio only) or, again, wherever you listen to your podcasts.

If you want to share your Late Diagnosed (or even undiagnosed!) voice with the community, please head to www.sageintime.com/podcast/contact. I’d love to offer you the opportunity to share your experiences and how you've made life "work" for you.

It’s happening. I’m excited to share that I was a guest of The Modern Arizona Podcast’s Billie Tarascio! I’m a member of Billie’s Facebook community after following her for a while and seeing how she balances being an attorney and a mom, and recognizing the delineation between family dynamics issues in blended families vs. the legal issues.

Billie, thank you for your time and the space to share some of my story and my heart for healing.

She was a delight to be able to speak with and share.

After leaving a career in engineering and project management, Derek began his journey in therapy in 2013, moving from substance abuse programs to private practice. Today, as the founder of Sage, he’s dedicated to guiding couples, families, and teens through some of life’s most challenging dynamics, including grief, betrayal trauma, and complex co-parenting. Married for nearly 27 years and a father of two, Derek’s personal journey and professional support system inspire his compassionate approach. He’s also an admin for a thriving marriage coaching community with over 7,800 members!

A friend/ former colleague is into Haiku as an art form for healing. When I interact with her in written form, I do so within the structure of Haiku. Many recognize the format of 3 lines with 5, 7, and 5 syllables.

I’ve been working on the website lately and have been developing the Grief specialty page, along with reading Esther Perel’s second book, “The State of Affairs,” which is an incredible work on infidelity (why people do it, according to research and her anecdotal experience in working with couples in her own therapy practice, and healing from it).

In my comment to my friend/former colleague, I added two Haiku as well. After completing my comment to her, I thought, this might be helpful to Sage in Time followers. Or be something they’d share with others who might find it helpful.

I am full of a
grief that confuses me in
a way that brings peace

Clinically, I do a lot of grief work. Death and dying mostly, but also relationship grief. Betrayal trauma. Even friendships that seem beyond repair. And the complicated grief that allows a person to recognize that the other party is still a loved one but the relationship was never fully what it could have been. It seems that the big emotions do not exist for long without being mixed. Sure. We have the moments of “sad, glad or mad; pick one” but those seem to be fleeting most often. The complex stuff?

The skein that we weave
in our own good hearts and minds
is often tangled.

When you think of complex feelings in your life, what complex experiences or sets of experiences inform them?

Let's talk about resentment in relationships with loved ones for a bit.

Having worked in the recovery field for over 7 years, I’ll try to share stories of folks who have been there and done that. They may or may not be celebrities. However, addiction doesn’t discriminate.

And all money does is kick the can of “rock bottom” further down the road.
