As a health and wellness coach, personal trainer, and nutrition coach there's a lot of research, paperwork, plotting, and planning that sets the foundation for successful, supportive, and accessible programming.

I don't always love the process of gathering and crunching the numbers, in particular...but the outcome is allWays worth it.

You don't need to go to the gym to workout if you don't want to or don't have access. Something as simple as a kettlebell, some dumbbells, or even your bodyweight can be the foundation of a kickass session.

Take care of yourself. Move your body. It's a privilege to be able to do so... and it can literally help prevent every noncongenital disease there is... so don't waste it, get at it.

That's a wrap on the Before School Program with SCSD. For eight months I spent weekday mornings with youth K-5 doing yoga, making art, and cultivating character through discussion, laughter, and honest interaction.

I don't love institutionalized schooling.
I don't love the way so many adults in these schools fail to be child.centered, empathetic, and emotionally and socially intelligent.

I do, however, love working with youth. Getting to know them, being present for them, and helping light on the sacredness of both our differences and shared humanity is an absolute Honor.

Six minutes of mobility work to hit before and/or after lower body workouts (glutes, hamstrings/hip flexors, and all around leg days).

Five to ten minutes of active mobility can make a tremendous difference in performance, injury prevention, and reducing post workout soreness. Not to mention, it's an easy way to ensure you're getting some mobility work in - something we all should be doing daily.

When you more intentionally and consistently, you move buttery and more easily.

Throughout the week I work with several local community centers providing wellness programming for seniors. And today, after nearly two months away from one of these centers (due to construction) I walked into a room of people who had missed me and - more importantly - the work that we do together. We hugged, we laughed, we held space for each other's sorrow/difficulty (personal, political, and then some). And at the front of the room, placed in my chair, was this stunning blanket that one of these lovely souls had crocheted for mi during our time apart as a gift from the class/group.

I do the work that I do because I KNOW that it helps people, it supports them in their journeys toward wellness (whatever that looks like for them), and allows mi - in whatever small way - to connect with them and have an impact on the quality of their lives.

In turn, I find myself walking in my Purpose and being fulfilled in ways that no other "job" could come close to. I hope that one day iam able to finesse, rather cultivate, this work - this feeling - into something widespread and wildly lucrative. But regardless, and until then, iam PROFOUNDLY thAnkhFull for every soul that allows mi the Honor and opportunity to be a part of their own growth and life's unfolding. iam deeply and truly blessed... and incomprehensibly grateful for it.

Post.workout stretch session ended with some of my favorites today.

Did you know doing active mobility prior to your workouts can help to engage the targeted muscle groups improving your performance and helping to prevent injury? Or that stretching after your workouts can help to reduce inflammation, decrease muscle soreness/recovery time, and help you to maximize your gains?

You don't need to put your leg behind your head or fold yourself in two. You just need to move your body in slow, intentional ways that will support you in *your* goals - whatever those might be.

Yesterday I gathered with around twenty beautyFull people to celebrate the solstice. Wi spoke about Honoring the darkness, setting intentions, and moving through the seasons with accountability and Grace. Wi shared a slow, meditative asana practice. Wi communed with and through breath. Then wi sat, ate, connected and laughed with one another.

ThAnkh you SO much to everyone who came out.

And a big thAnkh you and shout out to those who showed up for mi yesterday in ways that reminded mi how blessed iam to have community that supports what it is I'm doing in other ways - including my Nanny, my pops, , and in particular - I appreciate yous more than you could possibly know.

Saturday, December 21st Cassie Schinto Holistic Wellness will be hosting a special event and I hope you’ll come to gather in community, honor the darkness, and set your intentions for this new season.

3 - 4:30pm : FREE dharma talk and accessible yoga session (please bring your own mat as our supply is limited).

4:30 - 7pm : Cultivating community with laughter and Presence. (There will also be music, a raffle, and donation.based/sliding.scale activities and food.)
