Hey all! We're back. We know it has been awhile. Here's why:
"Etc." means including all of the rest. In the dizzy of startup culture, we forgot to include ourselves.
We ran full force into getting an LLC, defining a niche, and felt crushed under the pressures to make a business plan. And yes, those are all vital parts of creating a business.
However, allowing a "GRIND, GRIND, GRIND AT ALL COSTS" startup mentality to overpower the inner voice that said, "something is not right" was internally hurting both of us in a way that made a business based on Empowerment, Trust, and Community feel inauthentic.
Through unconsciously squeezing ourselves into the mold of what one is "supposed to do" when starting a small business, we lost our original purpose and felt untrue leading a business with the core pillars of Empower, Trust, and Community.
SO, we took a break and explored what makes each of our individual souls sing. Although painful and absolutely overwhelming at times, it has been the vehicle to return to ourselves, and to the company in a more grounded and true light.
We are grateful for the bumps, the tough conversations, & the releasing of external expectations because it has truly strengthened the love & respect we have for each other as co-founders and friends.
Etc. was founded on love and we want to spread that love (like peanut butter :)) with our public love letter in the form of an EVENT to the City of Syracuse and the people who have helped us along the way.
We are celebrating the incredible people power in Syracuse with We Love Syr, a daylong celebration of local artists and Syracuse stories. We will be screening 3 of the films we produced, "No Nuts", "Blue Toes", and "Kalyse".
See you there.
