Dear Assumption Family:
It is with a heavy heart we share with you the passing of our Pastor, Fr. Jude DeAngelo, OFM Conv. He embraced sister death in the early morning today, November 18. Funeral arrangements will be coming soon.

The Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities announce with profound sadness the passing of Sister Rita Marie Fritzen, OSF. Sister died suddenly on Tuesday, October 7, at her home in Baldwinsville, New York. She recently assumed duties as the General Minister for the congregation, following an election in July. Sister Ann Bremmer assumes the role of general minister.

Services for Sister Rita Marie are scheduled for Saturday, October 11, at Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville, New York. Viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed immediately by the Funeral Mass. Services can be live-streamed at https://icfayetteville.org/funerals/ beginning at 10:55 a.m.

Today, we celebrate the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi. Francis is remembered for his deep love of God, his care for the poor, and his reverence for all creatures as brothers and sisters.

As a Franciscan parish, this feast is especially meaningful for us. We are invited to follow Francis’ example of simplicity, humility, and joy, seeking to live in harmony with one another and with the whole of God’s creation.

Today and every day, let us renew our commitment to the Gospel life that Francis so beautifully embodied: a life of peace, compassion, and care for the least among us.

A Prayer for the Feast of Saint Francis

Most High, all-powerful, good Lord,
we give you thanks for your servant Francis,
who taught us to see your face
in the poor, the outcast, and all creation.
Help us to walk in his footsteps—
with joy, humility, and love—
so that we may be instruments of your peace
in our world today.
