Seven Stars

Seven Stars Seven Stars was founded by Dr. Gordon L. Day, a psychologist and leading expert in assessment and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders.

Seven Stars empowers adolescents of all genders, ages 13-17, who struggle with neurodevelopmental disorders, autism spectrum disorder, executive functioning deficits, and learning issues with licensed, strengths-based therapeutic and educational support. Our outcome-driven, innovative program design alternates between the best in residential, outdoor adventure and wilderness environments. The foundation of success is our focus on positive psychology. Our goal is not only to assess the current challenges. Our personalized, strengths-based, relationship and mentoring approach helps students find their strengths and build upon them. We don’t believe in power struggles. There aren’t punitive or material punishments. We work to avoid breakdowns and establish quick resets and community involvement. We connect our students with the logical and natural outcomes of their behaviors. It is through experience and challenge that we grow.

Happy Thanksgiving! πŸ¦ƒπŸ

As we gather to celebrate this season of gratitude, we want to thank all the amazing families we've worked with. Your dedication to helping your children live their best lives is not unseen! Your support and love make all the difference in their lives.

We're also deeply grateful for the communities that embrace inclusivity and celebrate the beauty in diversity. Through your understanding and acceptance, our students can feel confident in finding community spaces that welcome them for who they are.

To our incredible students – your hard work and determination are nothing short of remarkable. Each step you take toward your goals inspires others to do the same. Keep pushing forward!

Thank you to everyone who plays a part in building a brighter, more inclusive future. Wishing you all a warm and wonderful Thanksgiving filled with gratitude and connection.

"We encourage students to use the sensory room whenever they feel the need, whether it's after dinner, during weekends, or even during the school day for a much-needed break. This flexibility allows them to find their own rhythm and take the time they need to recharge." --- Eric Flores, Program Director

Our dedicated sensory rooms support emotional regulation and empower adolescents to manage their responses more effectively, reducing anxiety for themselves and their families.

🌟 Research shows that up to 90% of individuals with autism experience sensory differences. Understanding the challenges these differences may pose is essential in our work, as they can significantly affect emotional and physiological responses.

At Seven Stars, we integrate sensory support throughout our programmatic offerings to promote long-term health and enhance sensory processing.

Schooling for neurodivergent teenagers is not one-size-fits-all. Flexible lesson plans play a huge part in helping students engage better in the classroom. Ask our team how we help neurodivergent teens succeed in school, or read into strategies for success on our blog.

We recently went out to Black Island Farms to celebrate the autumn season. We found our way through the maze, went on a hayride, and picked pumpkins! πŸŽƒ Off-campus adventures like this are an important part of our activities at Seven Stars, and a great practical application for our students' therapeutic work.
