By the time you finish reading this post, a woman somewhere in the world will hear the words no one wants to hear and start a battle she never thought she’d ever end up in — the battle against breast cancer.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is every woman’s call to action to help change the narrative and bring the numbers down.

While there’s no sure way to prevent the disease, you can take steps to stay ahead of it. Your best weapon against it is early detection, which not only improves outcomes but also saves lives.

Routine well-woman visits are a critical step in catching breast cancer early. If you’re 40 or older, talk to your healthcare provider about breast cancer screenings. Don’t wait for symptoms to appear. Be proactive, be vigilant, and take charge of your health.

To schedule a well-woman visit with one of our providers, call our office now at (315) 464-2192.

Due for an appointment with one of our providers? Make the most of your visit by asking the right questions. Depending on your specific concern, here are some worth jotting down:

1️⃣ What screenings or tests do I need based on my age and health history?
2️⃣ Is cervical cancer preventable? If so, what steps can I take to prevent it?
3️⃣ It is normal to have some discharge?
4️⃣ When should I start getting a mammogram? And how often?
5️⃣ We’re trying for a baby. What steps should I take to boost my chances of conceiving?
6️⃣ How will any medications or treatments impact my reproductive health?

Answering the right questions is an important part of advocating for yourself. It enables you to communicate your needs, get a clear picture of your health, and completely understand your diagnosis and treatment options.
