Yesterday we said farewell (the retirement kind, not the dramatic kind…again…) to longtime paramedic Brian Nicholas. He was also honored with a longevity award from NYSDOH - New York State Health Department Division of EMS, a perk that comes with having an EMT number that starts with a zero.

Along with unwavering dedication, Brian brought a laid-back approach and refreshingly “say it like it is” style that kept everyone laughing.

We’ll definitely miss hearing his classic “What’s going on?” echo through the room, but we’re wishing him nothing but the best as he trades in shifts for a well-earned retirement.

🚨Central New York- your ambulance agencies need your help!🚨

EMS has long been underfunded by Medicaid in New York, and rising costs continue to outpace inflation. Now, a proposed Medicaid crossover cut threatens to further destabilize ambulance services across the state.

The United New York Ambulance Network has created a grassroots advocacy letter urging our elected officials in Albany to reject this cut. We need your help generating strong engagement and getting the attention of our representatives before this proposal does real damage to EMS.
