During American Stroke Month, Syracuse Area Health wants to remind our community that stroke is a leading cause of death in the United States and a major cause of serious disability in adults. Knowing the warning signs and acting quickly can save a life.

Spot a stroke B.E. F.A.S.T.:
B – Balance: Is there a sudden loss of balance or coordination?
E – Eyes: Is there sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes?
F – Face Drooping: Is one side of the face drooping or numb?
A – Arm Weakness: Is one arm weak or numb?
S – Speech Difficulty: Is speech slurred or hard to understand?
T – Time to Call 911: If you notice any of these signs, call 911 immediately.

Time lost is brain lost. Fast action can make all the difference.

🌈We're here when you need us.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, Syracuse Area Health is proud to support the well-being of our communities through care that recognizes the connection between mental and physical health. At our family medicine clinics, patients can access behavioral health services close to home with Nicole Maher, LIMHP, LADC, who provides support for mental health and substance use concerns.

Whether you’re navigating stress, anxiety, life changes, or substance use challenges, seeking support is a sign of strength. This month is a reminder that conversations about mental health matter, stigma can be challenged, and help is available. Mental Health America’s 2026 theme, “More Good Days, Together,” reflects that care and community support can make a real difference.

Mind and body both matter, and you don’t have to face challenges alone.

It’s amazing how a small gesture can make such a big impact. Thank you to these wonderful students for sharing joy, creativity, and community spirit with us today! 💖✨
