What an incredible week in Frisco, Texas! ✈️🏥

Our team had the amazing opportunity to attend the Association of Healthcare Emergency Preparedness Professionals ( ) Annual Conference.

We spent the days connecting with industry leaders, attending sessions on the latest in disaster resilience, and bringing back new strategies to keep our community safe. 🛡️💪

Thank you to AHEPP for hosting a fantastic event!

Minimal changes have been made to the upcoming forecast for today and tonight. A system moving through will bring a wintry mix of snow and freezing rain mainly east of I-81, before transitioning to mainly rain during the afternoon, but will linger longer across parts of the Catskills and the Mohawk Valley. Precipitation will most likely remain as rain west of I-81.

👏 We’re proud to share that another of our team members is attending Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt training this week, which will bring the department total up to 3!

This opportunity helps strengthen our commitment to efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement. We look forward to bringing these new skills back to our team and enhancing the way we serve our community! 💛📈Thank you SUNY Binghamton for teaching!

❄️ Extreme Cold Weather Alert — Please Stay Safe! ❄️
As temperatures drop to dangerous lows this week, we want to remind all staff and students to take extra precautions when traveling to and from the hospital.

Tips to stay safe in the extreme cold:
🧥 Dress in warm layers
🧤 Wear hats, gloves, and insulated footwear
🚗 Allow extra travel time and be cautious on icy roads
🌬️ Limit time outdoors whenever possible
💧 Stay hydrated — cold weather can dehydrate you too
📱 Keep your phone charged in case of emergencies

Your safety matters. Please take care of yourselves and one another during this severe cold spell. Stay warm and stay safe! 💙❄️

Good morning! Today's temperatures will be a few degrees colder than yesterday, but still mild compared to what we will see this weekend. An arctic front will bring another round of very cold temperatures and wind chills starting Friday night and lasting through the weekend. Wind chills Friday night/Saturday morning and Saturday night/Sunday morning may be as low as -15 to -25 degrees.

For a location-specific forecast, please visit weather.gov/bgm and enter your location into the search box. Have a great Wednesday!

❄️ Winter Weather Update for CNY ❄️
The National Weather Service is forecasting significant snowfall across Central New York from Sunday into Monday. Syracuse could see 14–18 inches of snow, along with dangerous wind chills.

Here are 3 quick winter safety tips to help you stay safe:
1️⃣ Avoid unnecessary travel.
Roads may become snow‑covered and hazardous quickly. If you must drive, keep an emergency kit in your car (blankets, flashlight, snacks, phone charger).

2️⃣ Prepare for extreme cold.
Dress in warm layers, limit time outdoors, and watch for signs of frostbite or hypothermia. Check on neighbors who may need extra help.

3️⃣ Be storm‑ready at home.
Charge devices, have flashlights ready, and keep extra food and medications on hand. If using space heaters or generators, follow all safety guidelines to prevent fires and carbon monoxide buildup.

🚨Important Weather Safety Alert 🚨

Good morning and Happy New Year’s Eve!

Per the National Weather Service, the Syracuse area is expected to receive an additional 3–4 inches of snow through 7am tomorrow morning. Snow squalls are possible tonight between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m., causing sudden visibility reductions and hazardous road conditions.

If you’re heading out for New Year’s Eve, allow extra travel time and remain alert for changing conditions. Travel safely and stay weather-aware as we ring in the New Year.

Strong winds with gusts up to 60 mph are expected today through the late evening. Strong wind gusts can blow around unsecured items and may result in power outages. Follow these tips to be safe and ready for strong winds.

If you come across any wires down, treat them like they're active and have power to them. Do not approach or touch them, and call 911 immediately.

Report any power outages to National Grid. To monitor power outages and when the power might come back on, visit https://outagemap.ny.nationalgridus.com/

Good morning everyone! The main story this week will be the significant lake effect snow event expected tonight through Thursday. Strong gusty winds combined with heavy snow could cause whiteout conditions at times across portions of the I90 Corridor, making travel extremely difficult if not impossible. Go to our briefing page at https://www.weather.gov/bgm/briefingMain for more details on this upcoming lake effect event.
