Linda Dean Hatz ✨Integrative, evidence-informed mental wellness care for women. I am committed to working with you, and offering support to address the challenges in your life.

Therapist and founder of The Nurtured Collective, where therapy, nervous system care, genetics, and seasonal wellness support balance, growth, and renewal for thoughtful, whole-person care Hi, I am a licensed Therapist in Syracuse New York and have been practicing for the past 25 years. I have had the amazing opportunity to create a private practice that I can serve people both in person as well as through tele-health services. I provide traditional psychotherapy with an overarching holistic model focusing on the mind-body connection, health and well-being. My research over the past few years has tied together the synergy of mind-body work; nutrition, digestion, our physical activity, sleep hygiene as it impacts our mental wellness and feelings of overwhelm, stress, anxiety and emotional inflammation. Combining mindfulness, practices of gratitude and improving nutrition (including digestion) along with sleep hygiene are a few of the tools that I incorporate within my practice to serve you.

The lake was still frozen… but the swans had already returned.

A memory from the lake one year ago.

Last year the ice was still holding on,
and the swans moved quietly through the open water.

Nature has a way of reminding us that change rarely happens all at once. Sometimes the surface still looks frozen while life underneath is already moving.

This morning while I was walking …the lake looks different…the ice is gone, the wind is whipping and yet there is this rhythm of wind, water, the birds that remain consistently.

It reminded me that healing can feel like this too.

Slow.
Unseen at times.
But always moving.

I’ve noticed this for myself and with those I’m working with…and with in this noticing and growth I find my philosophy around my work evolving and with in the beauty(and pain) in healing and growth came this thought;

The science of healing and the poetry of nature.
The poetry of healing and the science of nature. 🌿

and my quiet wish for you… that you are able to experience both truths.
Not always easy… not always simple… but often profoundly meaningful when we allow ourselves to notice.

Warmly,
Linda

This morning at the lake, the first thing I noticed was the birds.

After a long stretch of winter, those small sounds felt like my nervous system exhaling.

There’s actually research showing that natural soundscapes, especially birdsong, can help calm the nervous system and reduce stress.

Sometimes support doesn’t begin with doing more.
Sometimes it begins with noticing what’s already around us.

“Even the quietest sounds can remind the nervous system that it is safe to soften”

Not sure if this was true for you, but March came in like a lion in many ways for me this year, and the beginning of the month moved more quickly than I was ready for.

Sometimes my own work is remembering to practice what I share with others; slowing down and honoring my body, moving at a gentler pace and trusting that things arrive when they’re ready.

So instead of rushing to catch up, I decided to honor the rhythm of the theme itself:

The Art of Wintering ; Listening for what’s ready.

So …this calendar arrives a little later, but perhaps right on time. I hope you find some of the practices helpful and might bring a lightness to what’s been heavy.

As always, if you need anything, please feel free to reach out… And drop a comment below if you are loving any of these self-care practices🍀☀️

And remember there is still so much March ahead.🍀

The Nurtured Collective is growing.

Over the past year, my work in mental, metabolic, and whole-person wellness has continued to expand….and with that growth, I am opening space within my Midstate location for one to two aligned wellness professionals.

This is a dedicated consult and conference room space inside Midstate Athletic Community Center; ideal for health coaches, sports nutrition specialists, hormone & metabolic wellness professionals, and performance-based practitioners building consult-based services.

In addition to private consult space, access to a professional conference room is available for meetings, small group programs, workshops, or community gatherings.

Set-day leasing packages are available with a 6-month commitment.

If you value integrity, collaboration, and whole-person care, I would love to begin a conversation.

Because whole-person wellness begins with connection.

Warmly,
Linda

Morning meditations, Miami Beach style.

Feet in the sand.
Salt air on my skin.
The quiet rhythm of waves reminding me that nothing needs to be rushed.

Before the conversations, the learning, the energy of the day I’m giving myself permission to take some time for this
moment of arrival.

A gentle return to breath, to body, to presence.

Sometimes meditation isn’t seated in stillness.
Sometimes it looks like standing at the edge of the ocean,
letting the tide carry away what feels heavy
and welcoming back what feels alive.

Today, I begin here; grounded, grateful, and open.

Warmly,
Linda

Tonight in the Sacred Kitchen I’m serving up
a gentle return bone broth soup, beef bourguignon inspired
and a warm pear & ginger hot toddy (mocktail style).

Grounding.
Nourishing.
Restorative.

Made in comforting relationship with my kitchen…
served slowly…
ladled over farro…
steam rising beside candlelight and fire.

Sometimes resilience is quiet and soft…
A simmering soup, a warm mug, and one steady step forward.

If snow is coming where you are,
what are you simmering tonight?

The kitchen can be a place of return; to self, to heart, to home

Warmly,
Linda

If winter feels a bit harder this year…

If your patience is thinner, your energy lower, joy feels elusive…

Pause. Take a small breath, let your shoulders relax.

It may not be “just stress.”
It is definitely not “not doing things well enough”

Seasonal Affective Disorder is a real and treatable form of depression connected to changes in light and season. Winter doesn’t just change the weather; it changes the nervous system.

If February feels heavier than it should, you are not alone.

Small shifts; light exposure, movement, nourishment, therapy …. These little steps can help bring steadiness back into this season.

If this resonates, I’m here. My office doors are open.

“Even in the dimmest season, the body is still reaching for light.”

Warmly,
Linda

The Art of Wintering & the Gentle Return of Light

Winter is not a season of fixing or forcing.
It is a season of listening.

Here, we honor the art of wintering;

moving more slowly,
tending what is tender,
and allowing rest to be wisdom.

As February arrives, we begin to notice
the gentle return of light.
Not a rush into becoming,
but small signs of softening and readiness.

This space holds:
• seasonal rhythms and reflections
• nervous-system-informed care
• nourishment through food, ritual, and writing
• and an integrated understanding of how mind, body, and biology respond to stress and support

If you are here, you are not behind.
You are arriving.

Warmly,
Linda
