Finally, Dr. Angie shares with us one her favorite ways to get in more fiber, with a nice protein boost - "Dr. Angie's High Protein Chia Pudding"!

Did you know that in just 1oz of chia seeds, there are 9.8g of fiber? They also naturally have some protein, and are rich in omega-3 fatty acids which are great for heart health.

To make this pudding you'll need;
2 cups of non-fat greek yogurt
1 1/3 cup of your milk of choice
1/2 cup chia seeds
2 scoops of your favorite protein powder
Honey or maple syrup to your taste

Just mix, and let set over night and then you have a fiber rich, tasty breakfast or snack!

Pelvic support, but make it simple.

A pessary is a low-risk, non-surgical option that can help you move through your day with less pressure and more ease.

Because feeling good in your body shouldn’t be complicated. 💫

When you schedule with Madrona, we'll get you started on pelvic floor physical therapy and determine if a pessary might be right for you and your body, if needed.

We can even fit them in house, in a space you're already comfortable in, with providers you know and trust. Our experts have your back every step of the way ❤

🤳Call (253) 212-3620 to get started on the path toward relief and flourishing.

At Madrona, we ❤️ fiber! It is essential to helping you regulate your bowel movements and prevent straining, which can lead some pretty uncomfortable symptoms. In this video, Michelle Walz, PT, MPT shares with us her favorite tasty ways to incorporate fiber into her diet.

We tend to think of prunes as something that those with grey hair, like Michelle says, really enjoy but they are definitely making a come back with the younger crowd who are often searching for less processed, whole foods to add to a healthy diet.

💜Not only are prunes sweet and tasty, but they have a whopping 7g of fiber per 100g of prunes! They offer a mix of both soluble and non-soluble fiber which are essential to healthy bowels.

🍿Popcorn is an excellent, nutrient dense source of dietary fiber! A 3-cup serving of air-popped popcorn has ~3.5-5g of fiber which is about 15% of our daily recommended fiber intake.

If you add a bit of nutritional yeast per Michelle, that adds an additional protein and fiber boost (plus a yummy, cheesy flavor) making this snack that much better, and satisfying.

Your pelvic PT cares about your bowel health! Chronic constipation is something we see all the time in pelvic floor physical therapy and a common demoninator is often a lack of fiber in their diet.

Dr. Emily gets real with us, and wants you to eat more soluble fiber! While non-soluble fiber creates bulk to our stools, soluble fiber is what helps your bowels move waste through the gut and out more effectively. This means smoother and more comfortable bowel movements that require less effort to pass.

Some of the best sources of soluble fiber are (but not limited to):
🫘Legumes such as beans, lentils and peas
🥖Grains like oats, bran and whole wheat
🍎 Fruits (especially with the skin) like apples, pears, citrus, and dried fruits like figs and prunes.
🥦Whole vegetables such as sweet potatos, broccoli, carrots and more
🥜Seeds and nuts like flax seed, chia seed, and almonds

Struggling with regular bowel movements? Let's work together to get you back to regular, and feeling better. Call (253) 212-3620 to schedule!

Dusting off an "oldie but a goodie" blog post written by Dr. Angie on bowel dysfunction, and the role that pelvic physical therapy plays in getting rid of your symptoms. Visit our website or click the link in bio to read with us.

Pelvic PT isn't all postpartum and babies (as much as we LOVE working with pregnant and postpartum folks) - it can often be complex, and our pelvic floors support all of the organs and structures that come through it. That includes your bowels!

Struggling with bowel dysfunction issues such as constipation, incontinence, wiping and wiping but never getting clean, and/or painful BM's? Don't struggle in silence, we can help.
