Cervical Cancer Awareness Month is a reminder of the importance of preventive care in our Native communities.

Routine cervical cancer screenings can help detect changes early, when care is most effective.

If you’re due for a screening, your PTHA care team is here to support you.

January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month.

Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers when screening is part of routine care. Regular screenings can find changes early—often before symptoms appear—when treatment is most effective.

At Salish Cancer Center, we believe caring for your health means caring for your whole self. Screening is one way to honor your body, your future, and the people who count on you.

If you’re due for a cervical cancer screening, consider talking with your care team about what’s right for you. Early detection matters.

Flu cases are high right now, and some people are at greater risk of getting very sick.

Small actions make a difference:
• Wash your hands often
• Flu shots still help
• Stay home if you’re sick
• Wear a mask if you need to be around others

Looking out for one another helps keep our community healthy.

The holidays are about more than decorations and traditions—they’re about people. 💙

Recently, our teams came together to share a holiday breakfast filled with warmth, laughter, and gratitude. Between bites and coffee refills, there were quiet check-ins, genuine smiles, and moments of connection that remind us how important it is to care for one another.

This season can be busy and demanding, but taking time to slow down, gather together, and celebrate the kindness we show each other every day is something truly special. These moments—simple, joyful, and shared—reflect the heart of our workplace and the care we carry into all that we do.

To our staff: thank you for the compassion, teamwork, and dedication you bring each day. The care you show one another and our community is what makes this place feel like more than a workplace.

To our patients: thank you for trusting us with your care. You are at the heart of everything we do, and your strength and stories inspire us every day.

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve, to support one another, and to move through this season together with kindness and care. ✨

st’ulǰəxʷ ti sk’ʷədiid (Gratitude is medicine.) Our Gratitude Tree is filling up fast 🌲✨

Several members of our leadership team recently stopped by to create ornaments filled with gratitude and add them to the tree. Patients, staff, and visitors are all encouraged to take a moment to write an ornament and share what they’re grateful for this season.

Here are a few favorites so far:

💙 “I’m grateful for my kids.”
💙 “I’m grateful for my sobriety.”
💙 “Thank you to all PTHA staff—you have taken care of me and my children for 50+ years!”
💙 “I’m grateful for health insurance, clean running water, food, fishing, hunting, and still being able to get out on the field and court to play ball.”
💙 “I am thankful for my mom.”

The Gratitude Tree will remain up all month, and we invite patients, staff, and visitors to add an ornament if you’re able. Your words matter, and they help make our space a little brighter for everyone.

We were so grateful to be part of the Puyallup Tribe’s Wellness Powwow this weekend. 💙

Each year, it’s an absolute joy to help judge the Tiny Tots—these little dancers bring so much enthusiasm, excitement, and pride to the floor. It’s truly special to watch them grow and return year after year, carrying forward an important cultural tradition.

Culture is medicine, and the Wellness Powwow is a beautiful reminder of how our community comes together to lift one another up through shared identity, healing, and celebration. ✨

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this year’s event so meaningful.
