❤️ February is Heart Health Month! ❤️

We’re wearing RED every Friday to raise awareness and show love for our hearts — and we want you to join us!

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death among American Indians and Alaska Natives — and it impacts our communities earlier and more severely than many others. That’s why heart health matters in Indian Country. ❤️

ƛ'ububƛ'ub (be kind) to your heart by:
🛌 Getting good sleep
🚶 Moving your body
🥗 Adding traditional foods to your meals
🌿 Keeping to***co sacred by limiting commercial to***co use and cutting back or quitting va**ng

Small steps. Big love. Strong hearts. ❤️

❤️ February is Heart Health Month ❤️

Hands-only CPR can save lives. In an emergency, chest compressions should be delivered at 100–120 beats per minute 🎵 and music can help you keep the right rhythm.

For our community, you can use the Puyallup Canoe Family's Salmon Song (linked below). It averages about 105 beats per minute, right within the recommended range.

🎵 Listen here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSjUWgi3iEs&list=RDgSjUWgi3iEs
(Shared via YouTube)

If someone collapses:
1️⃣ Call 911
2️⃣ Push hard and fast in the center of the chest
3️⃣ Keep the beat (100–120 BPM) until help arrives

This Heart Health Month, take a few minutes to learn hands-only CPR. The rhythm you already know could help you save a life. 💓

✨ Puyallup Tribal Health Authority was honored to welcome Ramona Bennett to speak with our staff about her book Fighting for the Puyallup Tribe.

It was standing room only, with an overflow room full of eager listeners! Ramona shared stories from her decades of advocacy for tribal rights and her work supporting foster and adopted children. Staff had the chance to ask questions, connect with her one-on-one, and get their books signed.

We are deeply grateful for the legacy she’s built—without her work, we wouldn’t be able to provide the care we do for our Native patients today.

Thank you, Ramona, for inspiring us all! 💚

Seasonal gatherings and winter illness trends are contributing to high flu activity in our community.

Each year around this time, we see an increase in respiratory illness. While many people recover, flu can be serious—especially for Elders, infants, and those with underlying health conditions.

💙 Care for your community:
😷 Consider wearing a mask in the clinic and in crowded community spaces—even if you feel well
🤒 If you are feeling sick, please wear a mask and stay home when possible
👀 Masks are available at clinic entrances for patients and visitors
💉 Stay up to date on recommended vaccinations, including the flu shot
🧼 Wash your hands regularly

Together, we can help protect our most vulnerable community members and keep one another well.
