⚡️Walk with intention!
One of the most common questions I get, especially this time of year in the PNW, is “what’s the best warm up before a run?”
And while there’s no go-to SUPER ULTIMATE BEST DYNAMIC RUNNING WARM UP EVARRR since every body is different, brisk walking is a secretly valuable tool that everyone can utilize pre-run.
From physical prep to mental prep, it’s just a damn good way to transition from waking up, decompressing from work, breaking from family/caregiving duties, or any other task you’re disengaging from for the day.
💥Take 5-10 mins and walk like you’ve got somewhere to be! Then, if you have a few dynamic warm up moves you like to do, transition into those or just switch into your run.
🧠 Also, walking can remove a mental barrier to getting in a run. If you’re feeling unmotivated, starting with a walk can help. Some days, you’ll transition into a run, some days you might just stick with a walk, or you might turn around and go home - either way, you got out and did the dang thing to keep the habit alive.
