Tacoma Family Medicine is a Family Physician Residency program affiliated with the University of Washington. Tacoma Family Medicine trains residents in family practice, rural family health and obstetrics. With more than 20 residents in training, Tacoma Family Medicine is here to serve the community. Tacoma Family Medicine provides a high quality, full-spectrum family medicine education with an emphasis on preparation for serving rural and urban under-served patients. We strive to provide excellent community-based patient care and comprehensive resident training in a supportive environment.

Last week we took our didactics to the water! 🌊 Finishing yearly modules can be a drag, but Washington summers are not☀️
As a little reward, we spent the afternoon photosynthesizing, yapping, paddling, pinwheeling, and hanging with our resident humans, tiny humans, land dogs, and water dogs alike! 🦭

A BIG welcome to our new R1 Class of 2028!🎉

This fabulous group of interns has just completed their first month of residency! At TFM, our interns’ first block is called “fundamentals” which is dedicated to orienting new residents to our program and the Tacoma community as a whole. In addition to various orientation sessions, interns see their first patients in clinic! But don’t worry, there is plenty of time for team bonding - as you can see from the photos - the interns have already been on several fun adventures, exploring all that Tacoma and the beautiful state of Washington have to offer.

We are so excited to have you all as part of the TFM family!
