According to a statement from the Concussion Alliance, “Craniosacral Therapy (CST) [is] … one of the most effective treatments that we’ve found for persistent post-concussion symptoms.”

This MASSAGE Mag article agrees CST is “the missing piece” in the evaluation and treatment approach for symptoms related to traumatic brain injury and post-concussion syndrome. I did it! I'm a dip!

Last month, I flew to Phoenix and took a hands-on test with the incredible Ali Gabriel. I've been working toward that moment for 8 years, each year working on a different requirement (essay exam, public speaking, case reports, clinical class, etc.).

I passed, and am now certified by the Upledger Institute at their second and highest level. Right now, I'm the only therapist in Pierce County who has this. Woot!

What does this mean? Well, for one, I can put CST-D after my name. (And with $5, I can buy a chai tea latte!) And I can wear the tiara, of course.

What it means to everyone else is that I have the Upledger Institute's seal of approval that I know what I'm doing. Woot!

Check out my shiny new diploma! If it fills the room with a glow, now you'll know why.

I don't add to this page often, but this article popped up on my husband's feed. Somatoemotional release (SER) is one of the tools available to me as a craniosacral therapist.

When I first heard of Somato Emotional Release (SER), a technique that helps the mind and body work through trauma, I was skeptical. But, as more conversations about its mental and physical health benefits have been swirling around, I finally decided to delve deeper into SER. I booked an SER bodywor...

I just arrived in Truth or Consequences, NM for a clinical applications craniosacral class that will run all week. This is an area of hot springs, apparently. I have a hot spring tub in my room! For, um, medicinal purposes only.

And yes, I did go fabric shopping in Albuquerque before hitting the road to Truth or Consequences. : )

Post-covid brain fog linked with increased protein in CSF (cerebrospinal fluid), suggesting brain inflammation possibly caused "turncoat antibodies."

Patients who experienced cognitive impairments, or brain fog, following COVID-19 infection had abnormalities in their cerebrospinal fluid. Researchers say the overstimulate of the immune system as a result of COVID may be the cause of cognitive deficits.

Body whispering

I recently learned a new description of the work: “it’s not magic, but it’s magical.” That’s what I love about CST: when you know how to do it, it totally makes sense. But to the client, it seems like magic. Here’s my secret: your body tells me what is going on. Sometimes there are changes in the craniosacral rhythm. Other times, areas might feel hot or buzzing or might show evidence of an energy cyst (stuck chaos from an accident). It’s super fun detective work!
