I decided today I needed to take some of my own mindfulness medicine! I took a lovely walk down Broadway in the crisp fall air, and as I walked slowly, my intention was to begin noticing the beauty of autumn as well as the unexpected beauty of urban decay, urban renewal, a few oddities, and the beauty of nature. Along my way, I met an elderly woman who stopped me, noticing that I was taking pictures. We had a lovely chat about what a great city Tacoma is when you slow down and take time to walk and notice. It was a really lovely conversation and truly warmed my heart. My day feels richer for having spent some time quietly noticing without judging, capturing beauty in photos and cultivating gratitude to help me bloom where I’m planted.
