Whatever the cause of your tooth pain, it’s important to call your dentist immediately. In the meantime, you can alleviate the pain by avoiding activities that cause symptoms (chew on the opposite side of your mouth, drink warm water if cold water bothers you, etc.) and taking an over-the-counter pain medication like ibuprofen.
