Ashton has expanded her hours in clinic and is now accepting new clients for prenatal and postpartum care. To schedule a one-on-one consultation visit our website at waterlandperformance.com or email her directly at kirksashton@gmail.com

55 minute physical therapy appointments are $125.00, paid via any of the normal fee for service options (cash, debit, credit card, PayPal, Venmo, etc.). Though we do not bill insurance plans directly, we ARE able to accept Health Savings Account (HSA) cards or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards if your plan has one of those. Lastly, some insurance policies will allow you to submit to them our receipt (often with a form we or they provide) for partial or full reimbursement. The details of that process are best found either on the insurance company’s website or through direct contact with them via email or phone.

October is a time to grieve, raise awareness, and show support. ⁣

Breast cancer impacts so many women and their families. ⁣

When you deliver your first baby you are temporarily at higher risk for breast cancer but after ten years that risk dramatically drops below average. So the younger you are when you have your first baby the sooner the risk reduction kicks in. ⁣

The more time you spend breastfeeding the less time your breast cells have to miss behave. ⁣

To anyone impacted by this disease we are here for you. Never be afraid to ask for support or resources!

Here’s what Lindsey has to say about Baby Making Bodies:

“Ashton is amazing! I am so grateful for the support she gave me during my 4th pregnancy! A few days after my son was born, I said to my husband "LOOK! Look at my abs -- I can engage them!" I, of course, did not need "abs" right after birth and a woman's body does not need to "bounce back," but I truly felt that my core was supported which helped me get up & down, carry my son and tolerate extended breastfeeding positions in those early days and weeks. It's all thanks to Ashton. One of the best choices I made in pregnancy! I am now about 8 weeks postpartum and continuing to work out with Ashton. Feeling great!”

Does anyone else see the imbalance here? Unfortunately this is the standard of care in western medicine. ⁣

Not only is it ridiculous to only be seen once postpartum considering what your body has gone through, but that the visit is six weeks after birth just boggles my mind. ⁣

So many issues can arise within that first six weeks. Especially if your birth was particularly traumatic or physically damaging. Within that first six weeks we can learn to live with pain and dysfunction, convincing ourselves that they are normal. ⁣

Be your own advocate. Ask your care providers while you’re still pregnant if they allow you to request additional postpartum visits. If they allow them, take advantage of them ESPECIALLY if your body is not doing well. ⁣

Know your rights. Take care of yourself. Let’s start changing how our medical community views and supports women after they give birth.

In 2023 I hope you are able to prioritize your health for the long term.

Where do you wish you were with your fitness, strength, and overall health? Imagine where you could be in 12 months with consistency.

You don’t need to start a fad diet or jump into an aggressive fitness program. You just need to start doing something. And keep going. Consistency is the key.

What will you wish you had done at the end of this year?

Vulnerable post ahead.

This week has been tough. Today in particular. Just normal life things. Heidi is entering another developmental leap (see the app/book Wonder Weeks) and she needs nearly constant snuggles. If she’s not eating she needs contact naps.

I am behind on so much of the housework: dishes, laundry, cleaning the bathrooms, and changing out both of the girl’s wardrobes to the next size of clothing.

Spending the day on the couch holding my daughter makes me feel so guilty when there is so much that needs to be done.

BUT I am taking care of my baby. And THAT makes the day not a waste. A “successful” day looks different with an infant. And that’s okay.

In case any other moms needed to hear this today. You are doing great. ❤️
