Self-reported food hedonic overeating is all about:
HIGH ENERGY DENSITY CARBS + FAT.
WORSE:
1. High energy density.
2. Fat.
3. Carbs.
BETTER:
1. Low energy density.
2. Fiber.
3. Protein.
NOT IMPORTANT:
1. Ultra-processed.
2. Carb-to-fat ratio.
Yes, Iβve been right all along. π
The hedonic trifecta is high energy density, fat, and carbs.
Protein, fiber, and water LOWER hedonics.
Refined fat and carbs RAISE hedonics.
Once these are accounted for, ultra-processing status or carb-to-fat ratio adds NO FURTHER VALUE.
SORRY NOT SORRY:
Carbs vs fat is a lateral move. π
Ultra-processing is only statistically associated with the trifecta combo β but beyond that it is not a helpful metric. π
